Event Overview:

For three days in March, Spring CUE will be the epicenter of educational excellence and innovation! Spring CUE has been the go-to event for educational innovation for almost 40 years – come and see what the buzz is about, find your people, be inspired and raise your game as an educator in the beautiful surroundings of Palm Springs.

Who Should Attend? 
Educators, technology coordinators, administrators and those who are looking to see how technology can support student achievement. Many sessions and exhibits will be of special value to those involved in Title I, School Improvement Program, Eisenhower Program, Data and Assessment, Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT), English Language Development (ELD), Special Needs, and GATE. Thousands of teachers, administrators, students and parents, and other professionals will attend the three-day conference.

Exhibit Hall

The exhibit area features nearly 200 vendor displays of current hardware, software, and other materials related to educational technology. Show hours have been scheduled to allow maximum time for attendees to interact with exhibitors. The Exhibit Hall is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Exhibits are open to all attendees and do not require an additional fee. Exhibit Hall Only passes available. Children under 16 are not allowed in the hall.

Concurrent Sessions

Concurrent sessions are one-hour, presentations that address all areas of the curriculum and appeal to a variety of teachers. Sessions may be given by a single speaker, team or panel who can address the needs of the novice user of educational technology as well as the more experienced professional.

Poster Sessions

A poster session advertises research and projects where educators can engage presenters one on one. CUE will simultaneously offer various two-hour poster sessions during each of the poster session timeslots throughout the conference.

Exhibitor Information:

Exhibitors that have products or services directly related to educational technology and/or curriculum are cordially invited to exhibit at the CUE Conferences. Such products and services include but are not limited to:

Hardware (computer systems, peripherals, audiovisual)

Educational software (administrative and instructional)

Educational material publishers

Digital content providers

Internet products and services

Network products and services

Professional organizations related to technology in education

Educational institutions offering advanced degrees

International, national, and state departments of education

County and local offices of education

Public and/or educational broadcasting organizations

Laptop bags, mobile gear, and other technology accessories

Companies providing products and services not included in the above list may still be eligible for participation but should contact CUE, for approval prior to submitting an application for booth space.


Educators, technology coordinators, TOSAs, administrators, and those who are looking to see how technology can support student achievement.

Expected attendance for the National conference is around 7,000 people making this a sell-out event.

Matt Miller

Wednesday Keynote

Matt Miller has been infusing technology and innovative teaching methods into his classroom for more than 10 years. After trying to do the traditional “teach by the textbook” for a few years, he launched into a textbook-less path where learning activities were often custom-produced for his students as well as infused with technology. He likes the results a lot, and his students do, too.

He has been recognized for excellence in teaching and technology integration. He is a Google Certified Teacher (one of less than 2,000 worldwide) and a PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovator. He was awarded the Golden Apple Award by WTHI-TV in Terre Haute, Ind., and was nominated for a Bammy Award for Secondary School Teacher of the Year in 2014. 

Matt is the author of Ditch That Textbook, a book that encourages teachers to free their teaching and revolutionize their classrooms with mindsets, techniques and curriculum to serve today’s learners. He also created the Ditch That Textbook blog ( and regularly writes about educational technology and creative teaching. Thousands of educators subscribe to his blog, which has visitors from more than 200 countries. 

Matt hasn’t always been in education, though. Before becoming a teacher, he was a newspaper reporter and wrote for several Indiana daily newspapers, including the Indianapolis Star. He made the switch when he realized that his true passion was helping other writers with their writing, not doing the reporting himself. He returned to school and had a teaching job in eight months. The rest is history.

He is a proud graduate of Indiana State University (go Sycamores!) and is living the dream — a wife, three kids, a mortgage and two dogs.

Meredith Walker

Thursday Keynote

Meredith Walker is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls. Walker began her television career under the mentorship of legendary journalist Linda Ellerbee at Nick News. As a producer of that show, Walker traveled the U.S. interviewing kids for the Peabody and Emmy award-winning series. This experience became the foundation of Walker’s deepening interest in the lives of young people.

Walker went on to serve as the head of the Talent Department for Saturday Night Live, where she met her best friend, Amy Poehler. The pair decided to combine talents to create their shared vision of an organization encouraging and celebrating everyday girls experiencing adolescence.

Now living in Austin, Texas, Meredith is leading the charge of what that shared vision became:Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls. What started as an online “clubhouse” primarily for girls has evolved to become an inclusive, positive online community for anyone who identifies with its mission of positive self-identification and advocacy.

Walker travels near and far to promote the mission of Smart Girls. She served as the journalism envoy for the U.S. State Department Bureau of Culture and Education’s mission to the Al Za’atari and Emirates Refugee Camps and visited remote primary-care clinics on delegations to Haiti and Malawi.  

In 2015 Meredith was named a “Profile In Power” finalist by the Austin Business Journal and Austin Way designated her “The Confidence Builder.” Tribeza Magazine called her  “unapologetically, brilliantly herself” in naming her one of their 30 “Persons of the Year.” She was the September 2016 cover woman for Austin Woman magazine.

In 2016, Meredith was a WIlliam J. Clinton Distinguished Lecturer at the Clinton School for Public Service. She was a guest of the White House both to host the Champions of Change for Computer Science Education summit and to serve as an expert panelist for The White House Summit: Breaking Down Gender Stereotypes in Media. She returned to Washington, D.C. for the first summit of The United State of Women , where she and Amy Poehler served as co-panelists on the subject of “Revolutionizing Gender Norms.”

Meredith’s appointments include the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders Advisory Council ,Common Sense Advisory Board for Gender Equality, The UN Women Global Innovation Coalition for Change (GICC)  and the ONE Girls and Women Advisory Board. She teamed up with the Austin-American Statesman for her outdoor series POCKET ADVENTURES and has been published by POETRY and MOTTO for TIME.  

Peter H. Reynolds

Friday Keynote

Creativity champion Peter H. Reynolds is a New York Times best-selling author/illustrator and co-founder of FableVision, an award-winning educational multimedia company co-located at the Boston Children’s Museum.

Published in more than 25 languages, Peter’s books, including The Dot, Rose’s Garden, The North Star, and Sky Color, inspire both children and “grown-up children” with his messages about authentic learning, creativity, empathy, and courageous self-expression.  Peter also illustrated a number of books, including the best-selling Someday by Alison McGhee, Plant a Kiss by Amy Krouse Rosenthal, I Am Yoga by Susan Verde, and the Judy Moody series by Megan McDonald.

Peter’s latest book, Happy Dreamer, was just released by Scholastic Books. In Peter’s signature voice and style, this empowering picture book reminds children of how much their dreams matter, and while life will have ups and downs, Peter enlists readers to stay true to who they are, to tap into their most creative inner selves, and to never, ever forget to dream big!  

Dedicated to giving back to the community, Peter, along with twin brother Paul, launched the Reynolds Center for Teaching, Learning, and Creativity. The center is a not-for-profit organization that encourages creativity and innovation in teaching and learning. It is dedicated to ensuring that all learners develop the vision, confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to move their own lives forward and to use their talents, strengths, and energy to move their communities and the world to a better place.

Peter lives in Dedham, Massachusetts, where he founded The Blue Bunny, a family-owned and -operated children’s book, toy, and creativity store that includes a wonderful cafe as well.
